My baby is almost 6 months old. It’s been 19 weeks since I received that 6 week go ahead to exercise. NINETEEN weeks. I am ashamed to say, beyond walking the dog, I have exercised less than a dozen times.
We bought me an elliptical after I had the baby. A nice one. And by nice I mean expensive. I still haven’t cancelled my gym membership. The one I haven’t used in well over a year. For a little while I gave myself the excuse of learning how to be a mommy. I can’t give myself that excuse anymore. It is a never ending learning process.
My body did most of the work on its own for the past 6 months. I lost most of my baby weight. Keyword most. I was down to having 5lbs to go. And then I started to gain weight again. Funny thing is, we actually changed our diets to be even healthier when I started to gain weight. I blame the lack of carbs. My body is storing fat now so that I can keep breastfeeding.
We went to the beach. I wore a bikini. Yes, I still looked better than….60%?…of the people on the beach. But it isn’t my body. I look at myself in the mirror straight on and I’m content. I turn to the side, and I am disappointed with the pouchy belly. I look down at it from above and it seems HUGE!
So here I am. Officially setting goals.
- I will set an alarm and get up at the same time everyday. I will no longer use the little man as my human alarm clock.
- I will use my elliptical at least once a week. (start with achievable goals right?)
- I will do yoga or pilates at least once a week. (I need some zen time)
- I will have a glass of wine at least once a week. (Seriously, I need zen time at least twice a week right?)
Check back with me next Wednesday and see how it went.
[…] Last week I set some goals. I figure Wednesdays to be the best days to look at these goals, see how I did and reassess. Why Wednesday? Why not? It gives me the weekend, plus a fresh start on Monday to try and redeem myself. It’s halfway through the week and I am looking forward to setting some new goals. […]
