Not sure what to thank for this. The pregnancy being a bit harder than last time? The 102 heat? Just a hungry husband? This weekend we made an investment in something that will hopefully improve everyone in our little family’s health.
As I type this we’re currently enjoying a peach, banana, raspberry, and spinach smoothie. Well, I definitely am, Pete is probably drinking his in the car, and Ben finished his off before I had a chance to sit down. Mine had strawberries in it too to try and disguise the banana flavor a little bit more. Still delicious.
The Vitamix Roadshow at Whole Foods was irresistible this weekend. I normally try to cruise right by. We can’t afford a $500 blender. That’s insane! I won’t even engage. I can’t be tempted. Maybe it was the 16 month old boy in our cart who LOVES samples. He had already finished off a pouch, time to let him try a smoothie. Needless to say, it was a hit with Hungry Boy.
We started yesterday with our very first smoothie. I discovered mold covered grapes in the fridge (WTF Whole Foods?!?!?! 3lbs of grapes! They were only a few days old!) so that ruined my initial smoothie plan. Cut to, anything in the fridge that seemed like it would work with a big handful of spinach on top.
It made the boy cross-eyed. I think it was a success. Today is our second smoothie day and seemingly just as successful. Ultimate plan? Join a CSA next Summer. Blend anything I have left at the end of the week. Freeze into popsicle molds. My kids will be eating a lifetime of vegetables in a year.
Time to go stop him from dropping cheerios one by one on the floor. If you have a favorite smoothie recipe, leave it in the comments for me!!
I’ve been trying to figure out how to get Addy to eat veggies but I might need to visit a smoothie mix and throw some in there! This Black & Decker will just have to cut it though.
